What the Island Offers

  • Sit back and relax watching the sun set on another glorious day in Cabo Verde

  • True island life

  • Get down with some local rhythmns

  • Just sit on the beach and relax - no stress

Situated in the Atlantic Ocean off the west coast of Africa you can find a world of your own in the islands of Cabo Verde.

The beautiful islands of Cabo Verde offer a unique travel experience. This is Africa, 5 hours from Europe.

Of course, Sal and Cabo Verde are only at the embryonic development stage in terms of tourism, so please don’t expect the same experience you may find in more developed tourism destinations. What you can expect however, is the Cape Verdeans doing their utmost to welcome you and introduce you to the island's motto of 'No Stress'.

To make the most of your stay, get out and about and explore the island.  Go and visit the Salinas at Pedra de Lume, (a candidate for World Heritage Site status), a magnificent salt mine set within an impressive volcano or the natural swimming pool at Buracona and the phenomenon of the ‘Blue Eye’.

Sal offers plenty of opportunity to relax and enjoy lazy days in the sun. For the more adventurous there is world-class windsurfing, scuba diving, sport fishing and kitesurfing. Come by our windsurf center, try your hand at windsurfing or grab a drink and a snack and relax at our beach hut. The conditions are excellent for a variety of levels. Images from the recent PWA events revealed that it has some of the best waves in the world. However, the bay of Santa Maria where the Angulo Centre is based has glorious flat freeride conditions as well as perfect introductory riding and jumping waves. The clear blue water is warm year-round. Most people don't feel the need to wear a wetsuit between May and January as the water is 23 to 26 degrees Celsius.

For those that love nature and wildlife, there are turtle watching and whale and dolphin watching excursions, where you are almost guaranteed a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Sal also offers off-road buggies and quad bikes, sailing, snorkelling and a glass bottomed boat that floats over shipwrecks and sea life.

The Cabo Verde archipelago is a diverse group of islands, just a cheap and short hop away, offering something for everyone. For stunning scenery, lush greenery and beautiful mountains, choose from São Nicolau, Santiago and Santo Antão. For tranquillity try Boavista, Maio and Brava. São Vicente is well known as Cabo Verde’s vibrant cultural centre and Fogo, is simply awe-inspiring at its almost 3000m peak.
